Every day, the heart of our practice is in serving the people in our communities. People who have been injured through no fault of their own. People who have lost loved ones. People who need help representing themselves against wrongs done to them. But this isn’t just what we do in our “day jobs.” Many of our employees are involved with charities throughout our neighborhoods, giving back to causes important to them. And it is in that spirit that each year around the holidays, our firm “adopts” an organization to support. Last year, we chose Operation Warm. Operation Warm’s mission resonated with our team: “Operation Warm provides warmth, confidence and hope to children in need through the gift of brand new winter coats. We believe a brand new coat is more than a coat. Through serving millions of children in need across North America, we have seen that a brand new coat offers a child physical and emotional warmth, confidence to socialize and succeed, and hope of a brighter future.”
Last year, we raised nearly $3,000 and will be providing 120 brand new coats to the children at a local Head Start program this month. In fact, we raised enough that it will fund an additional 41 coats and fill even more requests in the coming weeks.
I would say that I was amazed at what we, a small firm, accomplished. But in all honesty, I’m really not. The people I work with day in and day out care about what they do, care about people and care about their communities. Helping others is, in essence, a “no brainer” for them. They realize that even the smallest donation or just a few minutes of time, can help. So I may not be amazed, but I am proud. Proud that we can make a difference in the lives of so many children. Proud that we continue to come together – this year adopting a local family in NJ and supporting the angel program at Old Pine Community Center. Proud that I know, if I was ever in need, I could count on our team too.
