Toxic chemicals are used for a variety of industrial, professional, and consumer purposes. The Locks Law Firm's toxic tort attorneys offer the opportunity to pursue compensation from the parties responsible. We have succeeded on behalf of many seriously injured individuals and families, and we may be able to help you as well.

The Locks Law Firm represents clients in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and throughout the country filing environmental and toxic tort lawsuits. Our attorneys represent people who have been injured by environmental contaminants, solvents used in the workplace and also from chemical injuries resulting from exposure to harmful consumer products.

Exposure can occur primarily in one or more of three ways: By swallowing the chemical, by breathing it into the lungs or through contact with the skin. It can occur when a person is directly working with chemicals such as hydrocarbon solvents, including benzene, TCE or PCBs.  Exposure can also occur when dangerous chemicals are dumped into the waterways or aquifers that supply your water, or by exposure to fumes or toxic dusts in the air you breathe. Usually, but not always, when a person is exposed to the point that a disease occurs, the exposure occurs over a long period of time. But many cases of mesothelioma have been diagnosed based upon relatively short exposures to asbestos.   Diseases that result from chronic exposures include multiple types of cancer such as leukemia as well as neurological diseases or damage to the brain and nervous system.

If you are suffering from a serious disease and you believe that it may have been caused by exposure to toxic chemicals at work or in your environment, you may have a right to financial compensation from the companies and people who caused your exposure. If you feel you may have a case, you should contact our chemical injury and toxic tort attorneys as soon as possible to learn about your legal options.

Dacthal Herbicide Ban

Locks Law Firm is accepting birth defect cases on behalf of children suffering from low birth weight, decreased IQ, and impaired brain development and motor skills due to exposure to the herbicide Dacthal (“DCPA” or “dimethyl tetrachloroterephthalate”).

The most at-risk individuals are the children of farmworkers whose pregnant mothers worked around crops treated with DCPA, such as bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale, and onions. The children of pregnant mothers who spent time around areas where DCPA was applied, including lawns, fields, or artificial turf, are also at risk.

PERC Exposure

The Dangers of PERC and TCE Exposure

Perchloroethylene (PERC) and trichloroethylene (TCE) are industrial solvents commonly found in dry cleaning, degreasing, and automotive products. While effective, both chemicals are linked to severe health risks, including kidney cancer, neurotoxicity, and immune system damage. Recognizing these dangers, the EPA recently announced a comprehensive ban on PERC and TCE to protect public health.

Key Risks

• PERC: Associated with kidney cancer, liver toxicity, and neurological issues.

• TCE: Linked to liver and kidney cancer, as well as immune and nervous system damage.

EPA’s Actions

In December 2024, the EPA banned nearly all uses of PERC and TCE, requiring industries to transition to safer alternatives and implement workplace controls where limited exceptions exist.

Legal Help for Victims

If you’ve developed health issues due to exposure to these chemicals, Andrew J. DuPont, a toxic exposure attorney at Locks Law Firm, can help. With a proven track record, including significant verdicts in benzene exposure cases, DuPont is equipped to handle claims related to PERC and TCE.

Next Steps
