There has been issued a nationwide recall of certain lots of Hydrocodone Bitartrate/Acetaminophen tablets made by a subsidiary of Endo Health Solutions. The company admitted that the tablets released to the public may exceed the regulated weight specification. The result of that is that the tablets may be ’super-potent’ for those ingredients.
Still more scientific evidence is mounting against Actos linking it to bladder cancer. Actos is a drug made by Takeda which is prescribed to treat Type 2 Diabetes. In a study published in August 2012 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute scientists from the University of Pennsylvania found that patients taking Actos for five (5) or more years are two (2) to three (3) times more likely to develop bladder cancer than those who took other diabetes medications. (The study also included Avandia users.) The study was funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It looked at data on 60,000 patients. Takeda still sells Actos to this day.
There are now about 1,000 Actos cases in the federal Multi-District Litigation (”MDL”). Plaintiffs are in the process of answering Plaintiff Fact Sheets. Defendants are in the process of producing documents and we expect there to be ultimately about ten million pages of documents produced.
